Seed corn harvest is fully underway here in Nebraska. Tomorrow will mark day 15 of roughly a 35 day harvest. Our crew runs 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week depending on field conditions. Seed corn differs from yellow corn in the way that it is harvested. Seed corn is picked on the ear while yellow corn is harvested by the kernels. Once the ears are picked and loaded into a truck it’s then hauled to a drying and conditioning facility for Bayer in Kearney, NE. If you’re ever in the Shelton area and would like to watch harvest or go for a ride feel free to give us a call. We wish everyone a safe and prosperous harvest!
